Shame to Fame Week 3
Posted on July 20, 2013 at 10:49 PM.
Welcome to Week 3!

There will be a change at the top of the power rankings. MTSU was able to knock off Georgia State 38-35 in the game of the week to take over the new top spot. Army continued to struggle in a 38-10 loss and South Alabama manged to pick up their first win in a 24-10 victory. This week Shame to Fame adds a few new members as we get closer to filling the dynasty. Georgia State will be taking on West Virginia, South Alabama takes on Western Kentucky, new member UTEP takes on New Mexico State, while MTSU has another tough game up against #5 Notre Dame. Best of luck to everybody in the new week.

Week 2, 2013

@
In what will go down most likely the Week 2 Game of the Week Middle Tennessee State and Georgia State played what could go down as the game of the year. The first quarter started off with a bit of defense after the first drives for both teams failed to produce any points. On Georgia States second drive they were able to get something going as they setteled in for a 47 yard field goal. What nobody expected was coach NeSmith calling the fake field goal and converting on a huge 30 yard TD. On the very next drive MTSU would respond on a short 6 yard TD pass. After another defensive stand MTSU was able to take the league on a 7 yard run by Parker. Only a couple plays later the Panthers finally got the break they had been looking for when Wilson would take a quick pass, give the stiff arm and take it to the house for a 68 yard TD. MTSU would manage to tack on a FG as the half expired to take the 17-14 lead.
Things looked amazing for the Blue Raiders to start the second half as they would take the opening kick off back to the house for a quick 24-14 lead. After another defensive stand Jefferson would grab his second TD pass of the game to extend the lead to 31-14. On the Georgia State sideline everybody seemed down and as if they had lost the game already. Coach NeSmith was able to rally the team together and Wilson would grab another quick pass on a curl, juke out a defender and take another huge 75 yard pass to the house. McLane would get some offense of his own going with a 20 yard scamper after a huge defensive stop to make the score 31-28 late in the 3rd. After a long drive MTSU was unable to score giving Georgia State a chance to grab the lead. Bell the backup QB was able to answer the call on 3rd and goal from the 1 on a QB sneak up the middle with 3:10 left. MTSU would not give in however and performed a miraculous drive to get inside the 10 with a little over 1:10 left on the clock. A quick pass to Jefferson once again would give them the lead and the win against the Georgia State Panthers.

Players of the Game:
Offense:
A. Wilson 7 catches 216 yards 2 TD
Defense:
K. Gilstrap, CB, Middle Tennessee, 5 solo tackles, 2 INT, FF, 100 yard kickoff return for a TD

Post Game Media:
"Well I have to admit I definitley didn't see this one playing out this way. Going into the game I knew the speed of the Blue Raiders was going to be an issue and it turns out it was the one thing we couldn't stop. I feel as if our guys really went out there and played their hearts out and did everything I could of asked of them. I blame this loss on me and me alone. That HB screen on our second to last play was the worst play I could have called possible and that put the game out of Bells hands and straight into the defenses. If we play like that every game for the rest of the year we will have an amazing season. Hats off to the MTSU team while we get ready for week 3"
