Next Gen Consoles
Posted on September 12, 2013 at 04:28 PM.
I consider myself mostly a PC gamer, and I have never ever purchased a console on launch day, was pretty committed to purchasing both PS4 and XB1, and then I started thinking to myself... what exactly is so revolutionary about either of these?

I understand that this is what is next, but on the surface it looks like the smallest jump in technology that we have seen in a while, which is silly to say when comparing just the sheer power of these next gen systems comparatively to current gen tech.

I started to think about what the PS4 offers more and realized I don't like any of the games Sony has planed for launch, and while I do not have first hand knowledge of the PS4 they were very chatty about social networking features at the first conference they held... that still doesn't sit right with me, also I would rather not pay another 50 bucks for online multiplayer.
Then XB1 and I started to think to myself is Forza and a version of NBA2K14 that doesn't have some features available that the current gen does enough to sate my console hunger... not really.
Titanfall... nope. TV features for a guy who doesn't have cable or satellite? how about an interface that looks just like WIN 8 and operating.

I guess in the end nothing impressed me enough to actually go through with purchasing one on day one.

There is time for me to change my mind, but for now this is where I am at.

To PC gamers, unless you're just attached to an exclusive game from sony or microsoft, there is really no reason for you to buy a Next-Gen console, especially at launch. All the Multi-plat games like 2k14, COD, Battlefield, Titanfall (Xbox exclusive but will be on PC), Watch Dogs, ect... will all look and run better on a PC. No need in dishing out nearly $1000 for a new console, extra controller, a few games, and an subscription to either XBL, or PS+. I'm getting the P4 at launch, because console gaming is all I have right now, and I don't have the money to get the gaming PC I really want, so P4 will hold me over until then. (I do believe the consoles have a lot of potential as well.)
