Xbox 360 or PS3 (for sports gaming)
Posted on February 11, 2010 at 12:10 PM.
I am posing this question: Which Platform is better for sports gaming?

I currently have an Xbox 360, but don't really care to pay $50/yr to play online.

PS3 is free for online.

I am currently on my 3rd Xbox 360 (now elite).

I rarely hear people complain about their PS3s (or even Wiis) breaking down.

Sports are the primary games I play outside of your (insert popular shooter/rpg here).....Which system is better for sports gaming on or off line??? Just curious about what your opinions are.

Ps. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the Elite doesn't break down.

If you have any interest in baseball whatsoever I would strongly recommend a PS3 so you can play The Show. Best sports game going right now IMO.

If you don't care about baseball then I would go with the 360. Better online functionality, better anti-aliasing making the games look a little better, and some features are still 360-exclusive (custom arena sounds for NBA 2K10, for example). Of course, the 360 has poor reliability, but don't think that the PS3 is perfect in this area either—I've had one die on me and so have many other OS'ers.

I have owned a Playstation 3 & Xbox 360.

For years, I felt like the original xbox was geared towards delivering a better first person shooter experience and the ps2 was geared towards delivering a better sports gaming experience. When the new consoles came out several years back, I felt the same exact way and I refused to torment myself by playing sports games on the 360.. It just wasn't the same for me.

In the last couple of years, I think the consoles have become a little more similar. I think both companies offer a good product for all types of gaming. The 360 has improved it's sports games and the ps3 has improved it's first person shooter experience.

To sum things up, It just depends on your' personal taste.
I prefer to do most of my gaming on my ps3 now.

It seems taht when I watch videos of EA developing their games, they always play on XBOX. So I really don't know which is better. I just bought a 369 Elite to go along with my PS3. I have Madden and 2K for the PS3 and Live and College Hoops on XBOX. It's all a matter of choice.

WOW @ PhillyPhan26: That is a crazy story! I have heard about the dreaded E74....and I definitely do not want to end up being a victim to these types of issues. I have long been leary of the 360 and its "burnout" problems....that one took the cake for me...it wasn't like you exposed it to something crazy....and you took extra precaution...smh.....The logical choice has been made!

It would be a good thing to own both systems, because they both have good sports titles. I really like 2k sports on the 360 though. You have more detail.

360 is better for sports in my opinion...I have both systems...but MLB is the best Baseball game.

I prefer sports games on my PS3 for the following reasons.

-Quick save backup to memory stick
-MLB: The Show
-IMO the controller is more comfortable
-Free online play
-My PS3 makes less noise than my 360

I've had both. And I ended up sticking with the PS3, less problems.
And I'm glad I did because I wouldn't be with The Show. Best sports game out.

I have both also and the PS3 was bought for the Show, and everything else is played on the 360.
