Position Specific stats: Madden has been using a very outdated stat display system, which isn't terrible, just not to telling of how exactly a player is performing. I love NBA2Ks Metric stat system that shows players stats from a completely different view than your standard stat tracking system. The defense in Madden is really the side that gets short handed when it comes to stats, other than tackles/tackle assists/total tackles/tackles for loss/sack, nothing else is really able to be viewed, meaning a player with a lot of tackles in franchise mode makes it to the pro bowl just off tackle amount, and it's usually a team that has a bad offense. I would like to see meaningful stats, like defensive stops(tackles of 3 yards or less, pass break ups, catches/TDs allowed, QB hits/Pressures. Offensive Line is another position that doesn't get much attention with regards to stats. Ever notice how none of your OLine makes it to the Pro Bowl, even if he doesn't allow more than 3 sacks, Its because of one stat, Pancake blocks. That is the stat that determines a OLinemans significance in Madden, and during a Franchise season, you'll notice that the games you don't simulate, your Oline may have played great, but amassed no Pancake Blocks, even though you saw them putting defenders on their backs.
A Metric stat system would be perfect for Madden. How cool would it be to see how many yards are gained running between your LT and LG, how many yards are gained when the RG is pulling, or how many yards is gained when the FB is leading? A Metric stat system could show effective your blitzes were, who was effectively blitzing, how effective is your QB when blitzed. Madden supposedly has a behind-the-scenes type systemm that calculates some of the things I mentioned above, but see is believing.

This is a very good point. And in all my wishing and hoping it never actually occurred to me to think about this. I really love looking over stats and just soaking in all the numbers so this would be great to see in there. Now if only they would focus more on things like this as opposed to, say, salsa dancing.

I dont mean to be rude, but if you all are looking for stat filled games, you better get a hold of that old game called NFL Head coach! Because we wont see that type of stat collection anywhere else, and for sure not in a Madden title.
cheers

[I dont mean to be rude] I don't think Its rude at all, I'm not writing this expecting everyone to agree, I'm not looking to get signed petitions, to get Madden developers to read my blog, I'm just throwing my ideas out into the world.

If Madden13, has it where the stats and ratings do MATTER, i will buy 2 copies, and have a give away for the other one! believe that! But i am almost certain that M13 will stay true to the stale pie, they have been making for the last 6 years. lol
Go Broncos! yeah man.
Let's rename it to "Peyton Nation". Playoffs or Bust!

Good point on the statistics, for instance in madden 12 Aldon Smith would've won DROY, instead of Von Miller. They don't take into account the value a player has on his team or just the overall impact on a game such as qb hurries etc., even some deeper categories such as tackles missed, or for DBs yards against, tds against, ypc against, would really show the kind of year he's having, instead of showing tackles and sacks like that determines how well a cornerback performs. I think more statistics, and better awards voting would greatly influence the amount of interest in franchise mode, at least for me. Good article Denverbro, and I'm not just saying that because I'm a bronco fan myself. I'm drinking all of that orange and blue kool-aid this year! 19-0 lol
