Generic Players

Has anyone heard about an option to just play a full season with generic players? I hope this is an option, would be nice addition to the game.

Well .. you can create people if you want, and just name them randomly. When you create a player it takes the spot of a legend

Re: Generic Players

I would guess his question is the same one I have: Is it possible to somehow choose or edit players for CPU teams, so that all teams have generic players only - no legends, in other words. From the info I've read, the answer appears to be no. The CPU chooses its players, and it doesn't appear we have any ability to control/edit CPU teams.

Aaron Holbert already confirmed that you cannot edit players on any other team but your own. Aaron, if I'm wrong, please correct me.

Re: Generic Players

My take would have been saving the money that it cost to purchase the NFL Legends rights to likeness and just release an awesome football game with generic players. Or they could have gone old school and did what games in the past have done and just had the players names be the players numbers (QB for eagles would be number 5) or even do what was done in the past and have the Philly QB named Donny Mcnady or some thing similiar.

If a generic game was released with an awesome player edit tool and the game itself was a great game to play, the modding community would have taken care of the rest.

I am looking forward to this game, but I think they incorrectly focused a large majority of their funding...

Re: Generic Players

Maybe the feedback on the gameplay this year will be great and maybe the feedback will also tell them that many would be happy with just a generic game.

If cost is an issue and enough people are ok with just a "generic" game, they could save a ton of money on the game (since they won't have to sign 240-ish legends) and maybe afford to put out the title again next year.

Or if any of the generic players are memorable or notably good, maybe bring them back next year and make one of them the cover man? Just a thought.
