Legend coaches - suggestion for the next APF

I can't take full credit for this because I swear I read this somewhere else, but what about the possibility of legend coaches like Mike Ditka (as a coach), Vince Lombardi, Jimmy Johnson, George Seifert, Marv Levy, Don Shula, Chuck Noll (as a coach) etc. They would be put into one of the tiers and instead of picking a player, you could pick a coach. They'd have their own special abilities that would apply to coaching, for example "Defensive Guru" or "Motivator". The big bonus to picking a coach? Their real playbook! So you're playing as the mid 90s Cowboys with Aikman, Smith, Irvin, Novacek, etc. and you select Jimmy Johnson as your coach, well now you can run the exact plays they did.

While it sounds cool. I think that is more trouble than it is worth.

I would have to agree, Fun idea but if your going to use funds it would have to be more for players.

I love the idea as long as it doesn't take away from buying players. I just hope APF is selling great right now so we'll see 2k9 or 2k10.

It'd be awesome if Marv Levy was leading your team in a halftime speech, and said "WHERE ELSE WOULD YOU RATHER BE, THAN RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW?" =D

I'd get chills from that.

I'm all for it as long as it doesn't take away from getting new legend players. Also if 2k can sign enough legend coaches I don't think it should take away one of your tiers, rather all teams should have to take a coach. I got to say I love the idea, however only if it doesn't take away from adding additional legend players.

yeah, i made a thread about this a week ago here. I think it's a great idea to individualize the game even more. Give strengths and weaknesses to each coach, different playbooks, etc...

Re: Legend coaches - suggestion for the next APF

I posted a thread about it a month ago, however I guess there is nothing that can be done about it till next year, though I would like them to make the coaches offensive and defensive coordinators.

Like Lombardi started out as an offensive coord. and was a run offensive coach.

Bill Parcells started out as a defensive coord. and was a 3-4 cover 2 defensive coach.

Buddy Ryan started out as a defensive coord. and was a 46 Bear blitz defensive coach.

Bill Walsh (really sad to hear of his passing) started out as an offensive coord. and was a short passing offensive coach.
