Rocky Mountain High: A Colorado Rockies Dynasty

Fresh out of college and only 24 years old I have just been named the new general manager of the Colorado Rockies replacing Jeff Bridich. Bridich was hired by the Rockies in back in 2014 and after only two seasons as general and Vice President the Rockies decided to replace him with me. Some around the league believe my age and inexperience will be a factor and hinder my ability to be an effective general manager in this league and to turn the Rockies back into a playoff caliber team. Some of my offseason moves have only helped to fuel this debate, just, see my signing of Ian Desmond to play first base. The NL West Division is a rough and tumble division with two major power house teams in the L.A. Dodgers and S.F. Giants. The division then has to bottom feeder teams in the Arizona Diamonds, who do have the potential to be a decent to good team, and then the lowly San Diego Padres. In between these four teams is us, the Colorado Rockies. It is my job to return the Rockies to relevance and to make them once again a playoff contending team.

MY strategy for this dynasty will be based on solid drafting, smart trades, and smart free agent signings. I will try to keep trades and free agent signings as realistic as possible. I will play every game including all Spring Training games and am planning on carrying this dynasty over from MLB The Show 17 into future MLB The Show games. Also, even though you have the option in game after so many years with your current team to change teams I will stick solely as the general manager of the Colorado Rockies.

Settings:

Rosters: Operation Sports Full Minors Version 1 once it becomes available
Hitting/Baserunning Difficulty:Veteran
Pitching Difficulty:Hall of Fame
Fielding Difficulty:Veteran
i.e. I have always been much better as pitching in MLB The Show then I have at hitting hence the vast difficulty difference.

How Often Will I provide Updates?

I will start off by doing a prison preview (such as my team's Spring Training Roster, power rankings, etc.). Then I will do an end of Spring Training update which will consists of things such as my MLB, AAA, and AA rosters. Then I will post an update every full two weeks of the regular season with updated stats and standings. I will also have separate posts of the draft, a season recap, playoff series recaps (should we make the playoffs), and lastly updates regarding the offseason I would like to have it noted that I will focus mainly on the Colorado Rockies and their journey with me as the newest general manager.

I will begin my dynasty once the Operation Sports Full Minors V1 Roster is available.

May I now present to you my Colorado Rockies' Dynasty!

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy!

Rockies Team History Prior to the 2017 Season

Founded:1993
Number of Seasons:24
Record:1784-2042, .466 W-L%
Playoff Appearances:3
Pennants:1
World Championships:0
Current Manager:Bud Black, hired November 6, 2016, 2017 will be his first season as the manager of the Colorado Rockies
2016 Record:75-87, 3rd NL West
2015 Record:68-94, 5th NL West
2014 Record:66-96, 4th NL West
2013 Record:74-88, 5th NL West
Last Time Over .500 Record:2010, 83-79, 3rd NL West
Last Time Made Playoffs:2009 as Wildcard, 92-70, 2nd NL West

The Rockies are a team mired in mediocrity. They have been in the league for 24 seasons but have only made the playoffs three times. In those three times getting to the playoffs they made it to the World Series once only to lose that World Series to the Boston Red Sox back in 2007. They have not made the playoffs since 2009 and haven't even been a .500 team since 2010. Things need to change, the culture needs to change, and I as the team's new general manager am tasked with making that happen.
