Do we really want physics?

Now I'm not talking about that class we all slept through in high school. I'm talking about using calculated momentum, weight, size and speed in a video game to determine player movement. The cries of football gamers like myself are loud and clear. We want games with realistic physics. Now while many fans are screaming at the top of their lungs that games need this, I'm not sure everybody really realizes what they are asking for. Furthermore I'm not sold that everybody voicing these requests...

From the Apple II to the iPhone OS it's been generations since John Madden Football hasn't been in the homes of Americans. Don't worry we're not in danger of losing Electronic Arts' beloved franchise, but we are on the edge of what could potentially the biggest innovation the game has seen since 1997 when Madden began offering Franchise Mode as a game play option.

The Degredation of Sports Gaming

I remember back to my childhood and what an important part of my troubled growing up sports gaming was. The memories I have of spending hours playing games like Tony La Russa Baseball being able to trade real players and manage every aspect of my major league club. Sports gaming was really beginning to come into its own at this time and for years to follow we would make great leaps in bounds with realism in sports gaming. From 1999 to 2004 I actually owned every sports title Electronic Arts released...

March Madness Time

I'm very excited about March Madness this year, but again the Selection Committee was generous enough to put almost all of my sleeper teams on the same side of the bracket. This hasn't stopped me from picking a good number of upsets in this years tournament, but it has hampered just what I could do when it comes to teams going deeper than expected.

I have felt since about mid-season that Syracuse had the best team in the country and they haven't disappointed. I did choose them...
