May 6 Roster Updates

The list is awesome but it’s worthless if boxers move and punch similar. That’s what will be what’s tough to get right. At least boxers like Ali, Holmes , and Leonard should move better than in older games. I wonder if they could bring in Leonard or even Holmes for some motion capture?

Great roster though. I’ve been playing boxing games forever. I remember being excited in the 90’s when Legends of the Ring came out and had a bunch of middleweight greats. To see this current roster is amazing!

My Man I think this is heading towards a pay to download thing .I see them giving a barebones roster to begin and then using the pay per boxer download model. I hope I’m wrong but something struck me when all of these boxers are being acquired by them getting paid per download. Well someone has to pay them and I think it’s getting trickled down to the consumer. I don’t know what percentage they are paying each boxer but a margin of profit has to be established for them as well. If the game is legit I can see some heavy money being spent on these added name boxers. I however love that they are promoting the sport of boxing. It’s much needed!!

There was a podcast where Todd Grisham explained how fighters were paid. It's mostly royalty based, and some fighters royalties will come from the base game and some will come from their DLC.

I think I remember him giving an example of someone like Bud getting 10 cents per copy sold. In a $60 game that's not a lot. But Bud can make a lot if the game sells well. So in theory, 100 fighters could only be $10 out of a $60 game.

I expect 100 to 150 + boxers in the base game, and the rest as DLC.

The game wants to be considered an eSport (hence the name) and with its partnerships will probably also make money from networks or YouTube broadcasting live tournaments.

I expect my wallet to be open for a lot of the DLC tho lol

TBH, the roster is secondary to me. While I'm excited for the fighters they signed, my #1 is gameplay and my #2 is career mode.
If either of those aren't done well, then having an enormous roster holds little value for me.
