Don't feel too bad. St. Louis just beat Xavier in Cincinnati 59-54. Tough loss for X. Probably haven't recovered from Thursday's game. Had a letdown. Oh well. St. Louis is a good team. Look at the results for them this year. Pretty hilarious. They've continued the pattern tonight, which means a loss next game!

I heard about that streak earlier in the week, pretty amazing really. I think it goes back to the end of last year as well. Good thing is, at this rate, Charlotte will actually be able to beat somebody at home when St. Louis comes.

That it tough about the Xavier game, they were headed for the Top 25 after that Cinci win. You're right though, probably still a little too hyped and/or worn out from that last game. GW now in first place alone, still can't wait to see GW vs Xavier.

Umass is really looking good latley. There playing really intense D, shuting St joes down and holding temple to 34 points. Chris lowe is an amazing pg for a freshman. The guy on espn said he was faster then dee brown with the ball

i like travis ford so far and im pretty sure UMass has to be the early favorite to win the A10 next year.

Ford seems to be doing a very good job there. Don't you have like 2 or 3 impact transfers sitting out this season along with losing basically nothing from this year's team?

Re: The Atlantic 10 Thread

Well, I'll tell you one thing, the Shootout a couple of years ago was a springboard for X's Elite 8 run that season. This year, they may have put so much into and and received so much praise after the game, it went to their heads and they may go .500 the rest of the way. Who knows. Interesting to note though, both of their PG's (Finn & Wolf) were battling injuries and one of their assistant coaches (Kenya Hunter) picked up a DUI at some point in the last couple of days. Throw all of that into the pot, they might have been exhausted, distracted, or whatever, which helped cause the loss. But St. Louis just played a better game period tonight. Look forward to getting them back in STL in a week or so.

Xavier isn't going anywhere this year. The year they went to the elite 8 they had talent, it just underachieved. Chalmers and Sato were both NBA draftpicks and played the best basketball for a stretch that I can ever remember. This Xavier squad doesn't have those players that can carry a team. They have a lot of good players but none that will carry a team. I think next year is their year to make a run.

You're probably right. I think they're a Big Dance team but not one to make a long run. Stanley Burrell doesn't have that killer instinct just yet like Chalmers had that year, but it's in him somewhere. It'll come out eventually. I think he'll be their guy next year.

This year their go-to man should be Brian Thornton but they haven't used him consistently enough for that, and I don't understand why. He has the potential to put on an Anthony Myles-type postseason though. We'll see.

Finn isn't having the best season, but losing Thorton is tough. I can see your point though, losing Finn and Caudle could be non-factors. Just depends on how they fill Thorton's spot down low. How is X's recruiting class for 06 looking?

I think Xavier has it in them to make the Sweet 16 run this year, they are a good team offensively inside and out and they have very nice size all around. The St. Louis loss might be an eye opener for them. And as the A10 gets used to having St. Louis, they will realize that they are going to upset some people every year with their style of play, it takes a lot of teams out of their normal gameplan.
