Re: The Atlantic 10 Thread
Alot of action today
Temple beats LaSalle 68-52. I thought Lasalle would make a closer game then this
GW won pretty easily
Richmond wins a close one over dayton
We got URI/St Bona- I think St bona will win this one, will be close though
Umass/St Louis- Umass is going to have to match the defensive intensity they had against St joes, and give the ball to freeman and lasme.
Xavier/Charlotte- Going to be a great game, but i see the charlotte winning

Re: The Atlantic 10 Thread
Originally posted by EspecialKCM, did you go to the game? I had to listen to it on the radio here. Sounded like the Niners left X's big guys open on the perimeter and they made them pay. Doellman and Duncan had good games shooting. How was the officiating in your opinion? Heard many boos from the crowd coming through the Xavier radio broadcast...
The officiating was bad, not an excuse because they didnt' cost us 15 points or whatever the final spread ended up being, but they missed some calls. The biggest gripe I have been hearing is that Cage went over the back on at least 3-5 offensive rebounds, none drawing a whistle, then in the second half we get called for an over the back, the first time they called that all night. Cage being a smaller guy it seemed they didn't care to call it, it was our center who was the first(any only) guy to get called on that foul. Also Doellman is a master of the moving screen and we couldn't get a shot inside the 3 point line off without getting hit on the arm, but it was never called. They were bad, but they were probably more fair than our biased eyes cared to see.
The reason we lost was open 3's, no rebounding and we just couldn't make a shot.
On the bright side, it was our first game with our kick a$$ new scoreboard.
I can't wait to see Xavier vs GW, I am really interested to see who is better. GW is ranked just because of the preseason pub, I find it hard to believe that they are that much better than Xavier, that should be a great game.Comment

Re: The Atlantic 10 Thread
Well, Sean Miller has tried to get his players to be more aggressive rebounding for the last handful of games or so. Little concerned that Cage needed to go over the back to get some of them. And, yeah, Doellman sets a lot of screens...and some really aren't legal. But, I say after the officiating in the Illinois and Creighton games this year, X deserved to catch a break in that area on the road for once. Sorry it had to come against your Niners.
I'm telling you, and I've said this since before the season started, Brian Thornton is the key to Xavier's team this year. Get him involved every game, get him to average 15-20 PPG, and they'll win a lot of ballgames. I think he's one of the best post-players that most of the country hasn't heard of. In Xavier's two losses BT was in foul trouble and I think had 10 pts or less. No coincidence that they lost.
Looking forward to the GW game. There is a tough stretch of opponents coming up the next six or seven games. But first X needs to handle their crosstown rivals on Thursday night at 9 PM. That's right...it Crosstown Shootout time once again.MLB: Cincinnati Reds
NFL: Cincinnati Bengals
NCAA Hoops: Xavier Musketeers

The combination of size and skills on Xavier is a little scary. You've got Brunnell who can hit anything and create a lot off of his dribble. Then you can go down low to Thorton, the other guys who played center did a good job in the first half too. Or kick out to a 6'9" guy who is automatic from 3. I haven't seen them play any other games, so I don't know if they were just 'on' against us or what, but it was a textbook schooling on both ends of the court for most of the night. If Charlotte didn't start out on a 10-3(or close to that) run, it would have been a 25+ point blowout.
Good luck Thursday, kick some Cinci a$$!!!Comment
