Re: NCAA looking into the recruitment of Cam Newton?

So, there's still the possibility that MSU didn't want to fork out the money and the plan backfired, thus leading to Cam signing with Auburn. We are all still speculating. The last of this story is yet to come. Regardless of the outcome, Cecil Newton seems like a terrible guy and doesn't fit the bill to be a preacher. I have a hard time believing that Cecil was the only Newton who knew, but I could be wrong. I also expect Cam to play today.

The dots appear to be way too easy to connect for the Newton's (Cam included) to be innocent. It is just my opinion (probably shared by a lot of people).

Sad.

Also funny that preachers appear to be just as shady as the next guy. Nothing new in that regard. What a disgrace.

Here's a recent sermon by Cecil Newton

Unless there is any evidence of Auburn paying Cam Newton money, there is no way in my mind they can rule him ineligible.

Shady? Sure, but you cannot rule someone ineligible because of shadiness.

Can't baseball players get drafted and still play in college?

They can be drafted, but I dont know if they can get paid and come back and play in college. I may be wring with that though.

That's my stance.

Did he get paid? It's looking like a good possibility.

Can you prove that he got paid? Maybe over the long term, but unless Bond, Rogers, or the MSU booster (Bell?) have any proof or Cecil actually admitted offering money (which I believe at this point is still an unnamed source) I don't see how the NCAA can declare him ineligible. It would set a precedent of only needing a rival school's booster to make a claim a year later to get a team's player suspended.

I would think that the NCAA will basically tell Auburn "play Cam at your own risk and if we find out you knew about this you're ****ed." I think Auburn will likely end up vacating the wins, but for the NCAA to actually rule a player ineligible while he's playing they go on hard evidence.

Thought the rule was if he or someone officially representing him were solicitating pay for play, he would be ineligible.
