I am even more shocked that this outlandish accusation would come from another SEC West school

To add to Cebby's post, the Auburn Compliance Department has known about the NCAA looking into Cam's recruitment since July. Seriously doubt he would have ever seen the field if anything harmful to AU could have been found.

Other than angry and disgruntled Miss. State folks and the jubilant Crimson faithful praying and desperately seeking anything to get rid of Mr. Newton and the resurgent Auburn program (because they are RUNNING WITH THIS here in Bamaham).... Not a whole lot to this.

I have yet so see any "jubilant crimson faithful" wish any negativity to the Auburn program. Its settled on the field, not the newspapers. May the best team win, no matter which it is.

I still find it comical that it appears from the article that Miss State reported this prior to Cam making a decision yet somehow it's State trying to rain on Auburn's parade.

Some tidbits on rivals, this is from a Mod who has a solid reputation, not a "random poster"...

I've spoken to two very trusted sources on the situation, and both said the following are facts:

* Florida coach Urban Myer, Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen and former Mississippi State quarterback John Bond had a telephone conversation recently to discuss the allegations.

* Meyer had an interest in this story getting out and encouraged Bond to do so.

* Mullen told the two he thought they should move on, let it go, regardless of what was being alleged. Meyer said no, that it needed to get out to the media.

* Kenny Rogers, who is alleged to have sought money, is a desperate individual that was trying to get Cam Newton to go to Mississippi State. Rogers has a checkered past that includes an ongoing investigation by the NFL.

I'll have a story up soon with more information.

Jeff Lee is one of the more respected Auburn website mods. Guy doesn't take to posting random rumors.

Also..considering how close Meyer and Mullen are...it's definitely not that much of a stretch.

I will say this:

If this is how it went down AND it isn't true...I want Meyer dismissed. You're no better than Kiffin if that's true.

If it is true, there is nothing wrong with what he did. Newton/Auburn would be in the wrong here.

I will add as well that Meyer would be stupid to bring this up...Florida originally recruited/signed Newton. Any investigation into him will also look at Florida I would think and I'm sure that Meyer and company DO NOT want the NCAA digging around.
