M$ repaired 360, not replaced

I was fully expecting a replacement, but the Zephyr model I sent in definitely came back (serial no. matched). The problem was a black screen (audio still ok), so I told them it was an E74 error (figured that was closest to what it was), but certainly not a RROD. I'm really not sure what they did to it and I don't want to waste 2 hours on the phone trying to find someone that I can understand and can explain exactly what they did.

Anyone else have a similar experience? Any thoughts on what to do to keep it running cool besides jacking it up on blocks and staying away from the Intercooler?

Don't really understand why you thought they would send you a new one instead of repairing the one you sent it, but for what it's worth, I have sent in 2 consoles for repairs. One came back repaired, other was a completely different console. Only guess I would have is it depends on their stock, and amount of consoles that need service. As far as keeping it cool, pretty much nothing you can do but keep it well ventilated and hope for the best.

Naw, wasn't expecting a brand new one. I thought they always replaced with a refurb. I guess we'll see.

How long did it take from the time you sent it in to the time you got it back?
My 360 died on me last night and I don't want to be 3 months without a system.

Do they still send you a coffin box?

Second time it took 13 days total, and that is with them making a repair, not just sending me a different console. I still had my box from the first one that died, so I packed up the 2nd one and just printed my own shipping label and dropped it off at a UPS store. As far as I know they don't send the pre-paid boxes out anymore.

Well, since M$ can't figure out how to have a UPS code come up on your screen to print (I mean after all, they're only a computer software/hardward co.), I had to wait an additional week until they sent me the shipping sticker.

Once I sent it, it was only a little over a week turnaround, so overall not too bad at all. I also got a 1 mth of XBL free card.
