Players leaving because of broken promises

I keep having players leave, and the reason is "Broken Promise." However I don't ever make promises unless it involves a jersey number. i scroll through all my recruits every season, and i try to make sure i'm doing this, but it keeps happening to me. i have an XBox. Anyone know what i'm doing wrong?

Maybe the CPU is making the promises, if you have auto recruiting on.

From what i have seen, no but i could be wrong. Ive done two years of recruiting and havent seen that option.

do not know about next gen, but I have PS2 and in coach section, rosters there is a spot to look at promises made. I have had 2 recruits make requests, one was to stay a DT, and another was a QB ask for playing time. I refused that one, but he signed anyway. I will have to see if he transfers as some point.

Wait...is recruiting promises available for in-season recruiting. I just did an entire season of recruiting but was never prompted to make a promise (xbox360)

No promises for in season recruiting on the 360. Only after the season.
