A 4-8 bowl team (this time with pics)

So last night I created a thread about how I had a 4-8 team and a bunch of 5-7 teams in my dynasty. I went to bed and when I woke up, mods had locked the thread because of arguing/off-topic stuff. Anyways, some people thought I was lying and wanted proof. So here's proof. I had simmed the bowl games last night, but fortunately hadn't advanced to the offseason yet.

4-8 LSU lost to 5-7 Indiana in the BBVA Compass Bowl to finish the season at 4-9.

A few teams also made bowls at 5-7. Ohio State and North Carolina both won their games to end up 6-7. Tennessee lost.

So is everyone happy now??? lol. I wasn't trying to start anything last night, I just have never seen a 4-8 team make a bowl game in any version of this game and thought it was strange. BTW, I looked through the standings, and it looks like every 6-6 team got a bowl game. But there were A LOT of of 5-7 teams that got passed up, and a lot of those teams were in BCS conferences.

As it is harder to do post-bowl because of the changing records, like I said, take a look at my thread.

http://www.operationsports.com/forum...bowl-bids.html

Things will have changed because of the bowl season but as Tennessee is in the New Mexico bowl and it is Toledo vs. Miami University in the Pizza Bowl, I'm thinking there was a severe shortage of bowl eligible teams for the season you ran. I was going to say something about TCU in the Belk, but I'm guessing you moved them into the Big East so that is expected. The MWC was short a couple of bids. The WAC was short a couple of bids. The Big Ten was short a bid. I can tell you the SEC was definitely short because the SEC's bid in the Compass bowl is in the RIGHT column. They took Indiana to replace the lack of an 8th available SEC school (sent 2 to the BCS so it is understandable) and then picked LSU to make up for a lost Big East school. The Armed Forces bowl was all at larges as it is usually C-USA #6 vs. MWC #4. But if you made the moves I think you did, they lost Nevada to the BCS.

It is hard to figure out some of what you did because of realignments. But it seems the Big East sent only 4 out of 6 bids as well so yea, not enough teams were bowl eligible from the looks of it.

That's pretty strange that a 4-8 team could make it to a bowl game. Was this the first year of your dynasty?

I've seen it, too. It was in the second year of my dynasty.

yeah, there was definitely a lack of bowl eligible teams in this season. It still seems odd that they would have chosen a 4 win team over one of the many 5 win teams that didn't make bowl games.

As far as realignment goes, I didn't do too much. I kept all conferences the same for my 2011 season, and then I tried to do some of the real life changes for 2012. I moved TCU to the big east, and then I think I moved Nevada, Hawaii, and Fresno st to the MWC (I don't have the game in front of me right now, but I'm pretty sure those are the moves I made). So the WAC has a shortage of teams right now, but everyone else should be pretty good. It would be nice if we had the option to add some teams to the game without swapping them with other teams so that we could add the teams to the WAC that are joining next year without removing any from the game.

Another thing I've noticed is that it seems to be too easy for teams from non BCS schools to make it to the championship game. Nevada came out of nowhere to make the championship game in this season. UCF won the championship the year before, after beginning the season unranked and having no notable wins (until the championship game).

I think it was the 4th year. I'm just doing a sim dynasty while I wait for the patch

I had a 4-8 Cal vs a 5-7 Tennessee in a bowl game and I have seen others. I have never seen this before are there really that shortage of teams going .500? Next season I will look and see if its true that they have to fill bowls cause there are not enough eligible.

I've always had enough bowl eligibles. Only in one case have a seen someone go that probably shouldn't have and it was 5-7 Arkansas in the old old Southwest. I could never figure out why they were selected, but I did not have the bowl tie-ins sorted out yet and I have not seen it since.

Kinda off topic but does anyone else miss in the bowl predictions it use to say SEC #4 or BIG TEN #6 with the teams. Always was nice to see ok if I can win and be ranked 3rd in the BIG TEN I will play ACC #........
