Is there going to be a pass rush from the DE's this year?

On the fence about picking up NCAA this year. It has been a couple of the years since I bought NCAA and I am getting an itch for it but the deciding factor could be the answer the this question. Will the DE's be able to generate a pass rush this year? This has been missing from EA football since I can remember. 2k had it right in 2k5 and All Pro but EA hasnt yet. So from the demo or anyone who has gotten it early, can the DE's get to the QB?

Well, I generally see more sacks from my DT...but I think it depends on the offense and your playing style.

From the Demo, when the QB scrambles my DE would normally get the sack. When he sits in the pocket, it's a LB. I blitz A LOT, so sometimes the DE can get away with the sack. As far as a 4-man rush, I rarely see my D-line "win" but they never really "lose" if that makes sense.

I think in a full season dynasty I would see realistic numbers

I felt from the demo that pressure from DE's was improved.

Thats encouraging. I hate recruiting a stud DE, see him rack up sacks in simulated games but when you play the game not only does he not get sack, he never even gets close to the QB unless the QB rolls out to that side and runs right into him.

Someone posted a link a while back of DEs blowing past the tackles.

I agree. I mean it still isn't perfect (line play needs a complete overhaul regardless), but I remember a game where one of LSU's DEs got two clean sacks on me in the pocket, and one was right when I finished a 5-step drop. It was so quick I actually remember just putting the controller down to my side and watching because it was too late to react. On the replay I saw he completely blew by the tackle at the snap. That never happened last year. Hopefully it continues in the retail version.

I always target pass-rushing ends myself, so if they are improved it will really help the gameplay and the recruiting experience for me.

I haven't seen the video described above, but I'm glad someone else noticed and documented it.

Re: Is there going to be a pass rush from the DE's this year?

The video in question was actually being used for an opposite purpose as being described. It was a USER documenting the fact that his TE and LT had to block one guy and didn't even touch him. However, what the USER failed to notice was that he manually dropped back about 7 yards on a quick pass play, so he was nowhere near where the CPU blockers expected him to be. He also stepped left directly into the DE's angle of pressure.

Regardless, I have gotten much pressure user controlling the DE as well as seeing sacks from my CPU controlled DEs especially if I pass commit and stunt them

Re: Is there going to be a pass rush from the DE's this year?

I really hope there is some improvement to the DE pass rush this year. Any little improvements is a big plus. But my concern more then anything. Hoping that this will not be a pass happy game this year and the AI D is not dumb way down. I want the AI on D to challenge me still. Hoping for the best right now.
