How do you beat 3 deep?

I had 9 turnovers in my last user vs user game because I couldn't do anything against 3 deep, and I usually beat users by 30+ points. How do I beat 3 deep?

Hi/LO routes. Flood routes. Anything you can stick in the seam between the CB and the FS.

Re: How do you beat 3 deep?

If you're facing Cover 3, you need to get into a 3x1 formation and start flooding those zones. Run Flood, run Air Raid Under, run Z Spot, run Curl Flats, run the Smash with the inner most slot WR running a streak. Cover 3 puts the defense at a disadvantage against unbalanced (3x1) offensive sets because you've really only got 3 defenders per side of the field (deep 3rd, outer most hook zone, flat zone).

Flood those zones out of Trips, Y Trips, Trio. Call short to intermediate route plays like stick and dump it off short between the zones. The biggest weakness of Cover 3 is short routes between zones and intermediate routes in the outer third behind the flat defender and in front of the deep third shell. Cover 3 is also very easy to read presnap because of the single high safety so you should have a pretty good idea what to do with the football before the snap.

Another thing I really like doing vs Cover 3 is hot routing the RB to a curl out of the backfield. He usually settles in between the hook zones in the middle of the field or at the very least draws a LB down and opens up some space behind him. A play like FL Dig is really great at that as well. The LB reacts to the quick hitch from the slot and you can throw the dig behind him and in front of the deep shell.

Give those things a try. Also, simply run the football to try and get him out of Cover 3.

Outside and inside power runs use the HB! And passing wise, short routes, outs, slants, and hitches. Make them switch the coverage to cover the short stuff then attack them deep when they do.

This cannot be a real question.

Why would you suggest running a half-back pass in this situation?
