Is there a roundabout way to do this?

I just finished year one of my Arkansas dynasty and, to keep in tune with real life, I want to hire a new coach. Unfortunately I know if I "explore other options" in the coaching carousel with John L. Smith I will be assigned to whatever school he goes to.

Is there some way I can send him to another school, and re-assign myself to Arkansas and hire the new coach or at least assign someone to the school and use them and whatever school John L. Smith goes to, and just kinda ignore the latter and put everything on CPU control?

I don't think there is a way to do any of that. No AD type mode. Your best chance is to just edit the coaches after coaching carousel. Change name, style, alma mater.
