bubble screen probs

I haven't had any success with the bubble screen this year, so what another quick pass I could go to when the defense doesn't cover all my wrs.

Re: bubble screen probs

The play called "spacing" where all your recievers run a 2-3 yard comeback route.

Re: bubble screen probs

It can be used as a successful concept but it's not going to work on any coverage. It will not work against man, especially bump and run coverage. That's a quick pick-6.

It is very effective out of SG 4WR Trio. Call the bubble screen from the play call screen. If they come out in zone, then run the bubble screen. It can still get you 5-10 yards with the occasional one broken for a long play if you have a burner in the slot. It's not a home run play every time.

The way to tell if it is zone is to look to the heavy side of the formation (the side with 3 WR's). If there are men face up with each WR, then it's man. Audible to either the read option or another passing play. If there is no one face up with the slot man, then run the bubble screen.

Re: bubble screen probs

I like to run the WR Screen where the WR ends up catching the ball in the middle of the field about a yard behind the line of scrimmage. Against certain zone blitz defenses, it is lethal

Mid Screen I believe. In 12 it was great to keep the defense thinking.

Yeah that's the WR Mid Screen. Very effective against the blitz.
