EA said it would be better for ncaa 14.

But they also said this for 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12 and 13

So disappointed to see that, I guess this is an updated version of Lemmings. I must resist the early overhyped community day impressions and the 1st week of release honeymoon period. Must stay strong.

I guess I am the eternal optimist because I am hoping the "defensive breakdown" feature mentioned a few times is not shown in that video. However, either way it likely won't make up for a lack of reaching for the ball carrier by the defenders.

If on the other hand defensive breakdown has already been shown, I hope there is a lot of work done to it because that short arm "crab claw" reach in this clip looks odd.

Spoiler

Also, what is #42 for USC doing in this clip? It seems like he isn't aware of the ball carrier until the spin move.

Spoiler

EDIT- According to an EAGC the "defensive breakdown" was still being implemented so that might explain the tackle angles in these early builds, which would also explain why they didn't really focus on that feature in these early vids. We shall see.
Bezo: Can you elaborate? I didn't see any defenders breaking down for tackles in the vid. Is this something that had not been implemented prior to the vid? Or maybe "break down" means something else.
EAGC: One obvious fix is how defenders will break down on the option plays instead of just either standing there like a moron or "dive-bombing" straight for the QB. The breakdown mechanic wasn't fully playable while I was there as they were in the process of fully implementing it at the time. I did hear good things about it from the other TSO guys who went to the other CEs, but no real hands-on time.

From the developer discussions we were a part of, defenders should break-down and then target the ball carrier. Sort of how FIFA's defenders will square up before attempting a tackle. This should really open up the short passing game and add a perception of space that makes everyone think the field is too small. When defenders can just go balls-to-the-wall top speed and hit every ball carrier, it makes the playable field seem smaller.
This is another area of focus for me when I can get back.http://forums.traditionsportsonline....4#post-1324642
