Question about cornerbacks getting beat deep

I use coach mode - not sure if that makes a difference.

My corners get beat deep because they try to jam the receiver at the line and if the receiver is running a fly route straight up the sideline he beats the corner.

Is there a way other than using zone defense to prevent that?

Thanks.

The bold is the reason. Man coverage without playing press works better. Once the receiver gets off the press, he will win the go route nearly 100% of the time. The only time he won't is when you have "buggy" animation where he either runs backwards a few yards or the corner seems to become attached to him and the receiver drags him backwards downfield.

On 3rd and long (prior to the CFB Revamed v9 release) the CPU runs three concepts:
  1. Go routes
  2. Corner routes
  3. Screens

#1 and #2 typically require blitzing to defend successfully where #3 kills a blitz scheme.

#2 kills zone coverage and press coverage works acceptably with good pressure, but you typically want to "man up" with safety help.

#1 kills press coverage and works well against man but typically loses to zone.

Is there a way to use man coverage without the corners pressing the receiver at the line? Some defensive formations have press in the description. Others don't but the corners still seem to press when the formation has "man" in the description instead of "press".
