I've had the PS2 version of NCAA 2006 for a week and a half now, and I've already reviewed it over at my website (Consolesports.net). I went to pick up the Xbox version today (Only because I have many friends who only have an XBOX..or only have a PS2..who I want to play against)-

And I went into my local EB and saw the PS2 version of NCAA 2006 playing. It was slowing down at the beginning of each play- starting when you broke the huddle.. especially when backed up near your own goal line.

This was a shock to me. I started playing the game (which they had set up on their playable in-store PS2 system). I was very surprised. This was not the case on my home PS2, and in a week and a half of play, this slowdown was not there for me.

I'm wondering- do we have another case of older PS2s with older model DVD rom drives struggling to run the game? (It happened on XBOX last year on several games- the whole Samsung ordeal.)

I personally have one of the new slimline PS2s... a replacement for one that died on me around March of this year. There is no slowdown- nothing at all like I saw on the older PS2 in EB.

That said, it could be a case of EB having a beat-down old PS2 as their demo system that has been on every day for 4 years... but the slowdown was noteworthy.

I have a PS2 and have not experienced the slowdown or the slow load times everyone kept talking about.

No major slowdown on my PS2, either... and I bought mine on the initial launch date...

I've had my PS2 since X-Mas '01 and I haven't noticed any slowdown in this year's game so far.

i have only noticed slowdown online. not much offline

i have an old ps2. it slows down, but it also does it when i run it from my HD Loader off of the HD. i have no clue why this happens.

I'm using an old PS2 (not a launch one, about a year later), And I've seen no signs of slowdown anywhere in the game so far. Perhaps it's only an issue in certain stadiums?
