PS2? XBOX 360? Next Gen?

Ok, I'm out of the loop here. From what I gather, the graphics on Xbox 360 will be superior to PS2 (stadiums, fans, players). However, is this supposed to change when PS3 comes out followed by the release of NCAA 2008 next summer? And gameplay...even though XBOX 360 will look better, is there speculation that its gameplay will suck compared to the PS2 version?

I have a PS2 and am not looking to get an XBOX 360...but, if XBOX 360 has all the bells and whistles along with great gameplay (ala, your QB actaully completing higher than 42% a season, and sim stats not out of this world) then I'll consider buying an XBOX 360. Any help would be appreciated.
