Gamestop says July 4th

I was lucky enough to get 06 from Target early last year...I really dont understand why they have different street dates / ship dates...there is probably a very simple explanation, but a whole 2 weeks just doesnt make sense.

Its not like the general public at large realises the game is sitting in inventory at these retailers.

I'm hoping I can get the CompUSA hookup again this year. I'm not gonna pre-order until the day before just so I can see if I can find a copy early again.

There is nothing coming out in those two weeks that could possibly take sales away from them.

the game is shipped two weeks before the street date so that every store that sells video games and wishes to sell this game on the street date may do so.

July 4th is the date that the game gets shipped from EA to store warehouses. Then the warehouses have to ship the game to individual stores. Depending on the method of shipping each individual store chooses, the process could take a couple of days, upto a week.

That is why its shipped two weeks before the street date.

GameStop's website says "ships 7/18" (http://www.gamestop.com/default.asp?sect=1270), so even if it does actually ship on 7/4, I think you can pretty much count on not getting the game until the 18th or 19th.

Patience fellas... it's a wonderful attribute to learn

At my local EB, they are not getting the game until Monday July 17th. They will go pick it up from the warehouse and then probably sell it on the 17th.

I work at Gamestop, we are getting it on July 4th.
