It works regardless of who you control. At the beginnning of each play you only have a matter of seconds (maybe 1.5 to 2 seconds tops) to commit to either the run or the pass. I typically play as MLB or strongside backer, and use the "defensive playmaker" controls all the time. It's REALLY helpful on 3rd and long, I always commit to the pass, and it seems to really help corners and safeties get in the proper places on their coverages.

Two questions:
1. So it's directly after the snap, right?
2. What if you've changed your controller configuration; is it still the right stick?
