They don't have any football competition (as of now) so it wouldn't be an issue.

I'm not sure, maybe it depends on their financial status as well. Maybe Madden needs to be sold at that time to secure sales and a postive outlook with shareholders.

Who knows, at this point. All I know is as a gamer, I get screwed any which way you see it.

If the hub-bub about the release being in July v. August is about getting up-to-date rosters and uniforms, I don't think waiting a month will make much difference.

Look at Madden for example, the game was released on August 22nd. EA had updated the rosters and released them a week after the final cuts were made, and the rosters still weren't as up-to-date as they should have been.... and this is with only 32 teams and a much smaller roster limit.

Leave the editing features in the game and our roster gurus will do a much better job. Maybe EA should hire some of the rosters gurus as independant contractors.

As far as the uniforms, many of the new alternates and new uniforms are not released to the public until the season begins, so I'd expect these to be in the following years game... or offered on XBL MP for D/L... and then included in the following year's game (out of the box of course

).

The reasons I have for wanting a later release date have nothing to do with rosters or uniforms. I'd just like to be forced to wait until an actual season begins before I can play out that season in my own little video game world.

I suppose I could always just wait until the season starts before I buy the game, but where's the fun in that?

EA got your 60 bucks even if you bought it, put it in your ent center and never played it.

As far as accurate uniforms and rosters are concerned...I forsee that being used for the marketplace wether we like it or not.

Die hard fans have proven they can make the rosters more accurate than the EA team is willing to do. Downloading them, using an action replay, sending in memory card ( if you want that accurate of a roster ) is they way to go.

Ask yourself how many people buy NCAA and Madden. I doubt NCAA would have such spectacular sales if they were released at the same time frame.
I know tons of people that buy NCAA and play it a month, then trade it in for Madden. This is the best of both worlds for EA.

Also they release NHL and NBA in the same time frame, so there is no point in having another sports game released so close together.

I think you have some valid points, but why should our roster gurus have to do anything at all? When you pay 60 dollars for a game, the least you should expect is updated rosters and uniforms. It almost seems to be a contradiction that their motto is "If its in the game, its in the game" because for one thing it ISN'T IN THE GAME! Stop putting crappy features and modes nobody cares about like "Player Testicle Evaluation" and "Team Picture day" (sarcasm) and at least give us an accurate representation of our favorite NFL and NCAA teams. Its the least they can do.
