Vision Cone?

This is my first time using the vision cone, can someone give me quick run down on the nuances of this tool?

I know that it is the only way to lob...

I accidently had it come up once. I don't know what made it come up and what the point of it is.

Move the right stick to bring it up. The point of it is the "cone" is supposed to be your "line of sight" so that is where your QB eyes are looking. If you throw anywhere but where you are looking your accuracy takes a hit.

You bring it up (on 360) by PRESSING DOWN the RIGHT stick. I don't ever use it but I've found that you can lob moving the right stick in the direction you want to lob.

You can also hold down the left trigger and the button that corresponds to the reciever you want to pass to and the cone will automatically face that reciever. I think it's a little easier than manualy moving the cone with the right stick.

I got sacked a bunch when I first got the game because of this. I would accidentally press L2 (PS3) while trying to throw and the cone would come up, and I'd either get sacked or throw a pick because the timing of the route was off. I've gotten better at not hitting L2 now, though, and haven't had it happen in a while.
