No you are not crazy. If thats the version that you feel will provide you the better "bang for your buck", then thats the one you have to buy.

07 was the last year I purchased the PS2 version. The next gen version was terrible after a week.

You're not crazy. In fact, I bought both versions last year, and ended up playing PS2 more.

There's a chance I'll buy it for PS2 if the next gen version is anything like past years. Considering it looks nearly identical to 08 minus a few cosmetic changes, I'd say the chance is very, very good.

I enjoy realistic football, which is not offered on any next gen games. Instead, they've gone the arcade/graphics route, seemingly ignoring gameplay. That's the reason I still play NFL 2k5 over any version of next gen Madden. I'd much rather have bad graphics than unrealistic stats.

PS2 version here also.....I'm still playing 08 and to be honest, I'm sure if I need to buy either. I'm happy with 08 (PS2 version played on PS3). There is a nice "wow" factor with this years PS3 version and it's the first time on the next gen systems that I can say that....but switching back and forth from the 09 demo and the 08 PS2 version I have to say I like the game play of the PS2 version better. It's a lot easier to make a play on the ball on defense and the control of the players, despite ea's efforts to tighten it up on next gen, still feel better on the PS2.
