I had the same problem, and a guy told me to step up when I throw the deep ball...and it works. The game is much more enjoyable and realistic to me now that I do that simple step. I didn't touch any of my sliders either.

I read that, and I remember thinking that makes no sense. So if the knockdown slider is higher, does that mean the D-lineman is able to get his arm raised higher at the line to knock down passes? What sense does that make?

It's for DBs, I've tested it. Many more passes knocked away by DBs when it's maxed.

I don't know if it's just a placebo effect but it seems the higher the knockdown sliders, the more the D-linemen try to tip the pass.

Re: Is there a way to Complete a long Pass?

If you learn how to user catch deep balls are VERY easy to complete, even on Heisman. Heisman I would have a 50% chance of pulling down a deep pass on 1-1 coverage. On AA or below it goes up to 85% at least.

These are guesses.
I'm not bragging...it's just easy. I don't even allow myself to do it anymore which sucks because when my AI controlled WRs go down the field they are brain dead. The WR/DB interaction is atrocious.

Re: Is there a way to Complete a long Pass?

I never user catch. I haven't tried to do it in a long time since I have historically sucked at it (#1 major reason) and I feel not user catching makes my WRs play more to their ratings. I do drop the cpu knockdowns to make it easier to complete the deep ball.

Don't forget that Ian from the Madden boards wasn't even aware the cpu sliders were removed from Madden until two weeks before launch. The way EA screwed up the sliders in the NCAA game (broken out of the box) makes me believe that all of their guys play on default and don't really know how to make them work properly anyways. The sliders and the effect they have really need to be improved next year.

Re: Is there a way to Complete a long Pass?

I went home and tried your suggestions. The one that really paid off was the stepping up when my QB throws deep. That put a little extra on the ball and it started being knocked down less. I had Human QB Acc at 40 so I might raise that to 45. I also had CPU knockdowns at 95, so I lowered that to 60 as a test.

Thank you again for your suggestions.
