QB Choice and Zone Read

So does anybody have an idea of how to read those two plays?? When I play as either USF or Oregon, I can either score on em from anywhere w/ the quarterback, or I get a one yard loss...

Thanks in advance

IRL, those plays are pretty simple reads. The QB reads the defensive end he is facing (or opposite the direction he is handing off to). If the DE keeps outside contain, he hands the ball off to his HB. If the DE crashes down to stop the inside handoff, the QB keeps it a breaks to the outside. Thats the basics of it. I could break down the full read a QB goes through but it would be an essay.

That's what I thought he would read it on, but that never really changes anything in the game. I guess the play is sorta random in game

The thing i hate most about calling those plays in the game, 9 times out of 10 the end will keep contain. You can hand the ball off 10 straight times and each time the DE will go outside.

i never get yards with the qb on reads, so i always end up handing it off to the back.

Re: QB Choice and Zone Read

Whether to hand it off or not is totally random and based on what you decide to do. There aren't really any post snap reads that need to be made. The DE never "reads" the potential handoff and reacts to the HB-he just takes his normal assignment. I normally make my decision on whether to hand off or keep based on the defense's alignment. If you've got a QB with Pat White type speed, you can do damage by keeping it, but if your guy's speed is say 85 it's pretty useless IMO...especially if the opposing defense has a couple of freakishly fast DEs/LBs.

This is the most thorough thread I've seen that explains how EA SHOULD implement the option game.
