Just to clear this up, the OP was talking about the new Procedural Awareness feature they're installing in the 2010 game. He wasn't talking about play action . The OP, like the rest of us, is hoping that the Procedural Awareness feature helps stop things like defenders with their backs to the ball making ridiculous plays on the ball.

The better issue on that play is why the throw was so horribly off.

But I'm actually grateful the defense can make plays like that on this years game. The offense is already ridiculous, and anyone who's good at passing can put up 75%+ online, even against top players, because so many routes are too easy to complete (curls first and foremost). I once did an experiment where I ran All Curls on someone online EVERY SINGLE PLAY. He was a decent player and I went something like 23 of 25 passing and he eventually quit the game because he couldn't do anything to stop it.

Anyway, the point is, the defense is already handicapped enough in this year's version. If they couldn't make freak plays in the middle of the field, people would be throwing for 90% every game.

On a somewhat related note, the CPU controlled defenders on the deep ball are great this year. They'll actually attack the spot and go get the ball at its highest point. This takes away the horribly annoying players who rocket catch everything and can pick up 3rd and 15 easily that we saw so often on later PS2 versions. This is one of the best things EA did in NCAA 09.
