Something to think about! Exclusivity?

Guys,

Most of you have heard the breaking news! Nascar has apparently decided not to renew the license exclusivity deal with EA. As a result, there will not be a NASCAR 2010 release. What could this mean for EA's exclusivity with the NFL and NCAA CFB?

Could this mean the return of competition for these franchises in the future. I for one think this a great sign of things to come. Maybe this will be a "wake up call" for EA. Your thoughts please.

Re: Something to think about! Exclusivity?

no way, the NCAA loves EA. they did them a huge favor by taking over all ncaa licenses. you have to remember that all companys had a chance to win the license. they want only one company handling their product. also teams make millions of the license. FSU made over 100,000 last year of NCAA alone. the only way for them not to want to continue with ea is if sales drop hugely. that means all those guys on here bitching and moaning about renting first (yea right) really cant buy the game because all those casual gamers still love NCAA and they are the money that makes this all tick. in all honesty they we are the minority by far but alteast they are turning to us for ideas to improve on the real football side and not just the entertainment side which is what software companys are. entertainment companys. competition would hurt the NCAA's teams worse than it would hurt EA. its business, creating a realistic college football simulator is not what would sell games to kids and casual gamers.

yeah if anything this announcement is more evidence that EA will hold the rights for longer because they'll be able to allocate a larger percent of their cash to focus football games

Do you have a source for "Nascar has apparently decided not to renew the license exclusivity deal with EA"?
