Any chance at 85-man rosters for NCAA10?

I can't tell you how many times I've thought about that. It's necessary. I'd actually like 100 - 85 scholie players and 15 walkons.

I wrote this a while ago, and included something that a game designer had written:

The game would be exponentially cooler with every scholarship player along with walkons.

--Recruits: number wouldn't increase, or wouldn't increase much. They already let you sign 25, which is the limit with a larger roster as well.
--Roster: number would increase. Now - 70 players x 120 teams = 8,400. Truly next gen - 100 players x 120 teams - 12,000.

3,600 spots is nothing to sneeze at. But I don't understand how they were able to go from 55 to 70 during one year. Which added 1800 roster spots. But they can't do that again to 85? Or 3,600 to 100?

[One of the game designers said]: "1. Still 70. It was a HUGE task to expand them from 55 to 70 a few years ago. Every spot we add has a big impact on memory, DB sizes, Dynasty mode logic, recruiting, and other things. That's probably why it was only expanded 15 last time."

It is a lot of work and has to be weighed against all other features. Even the smallest feature can get cut.

It would be cool to have the 85, but I'd like to see EA get to showing 70 on an entrance + that same 70 (or most of it) for a pre-game warm-up shot + all actual players on the sidelines with proper equipment, shoes etc., as opposed to the generic "stay-puffed" marshmallow guys with white shoes, all before they move up and give us generic sidelines.

Honestly, 85 man roster is overkill. I like realism as much as teh next guy, but it's already a pain enough navigating through the players on this game now. We don't need it filled with extra name/players that 90% of the NCAA community will never use.

To tell you the truth, I'm not gonna be using that many players that far down in my depth chart

Hasn't it been confirmed that 85 man rosters are not in 10? I believe it is listed in the confirmed feature thread.

I think the biggest issue with not having it arrives in dynasty. You can't establish depth at every position with only 70 players. If you like to redshirt most of your freshmen, then your depth is even worse. I usually have to cut a lot of freshmen, who if I could redshirt, would be good players, later as upperclassmen.

They were supposed to increase it to 75 man rosters back in 2005 when they increased the rosters from 55 players (for some reason that got changed to 70 before the game was released). The only reason they don't have 85 man rosters is cause EA is too lazy and their Q&A department is too incompetent to find the problems that might arise from the change (they couldn't even find the obvious errors that shipped with the game last year that everyone who played it found out in a couple of hours).

With all the current restrictions preventing me from using the 70 players I have now...I don't want an 85 man roster. I read some good points for having 85 and even the post for 100 player rosters. But I'll be real, there are no formation subs to accomodate 70 players let alone 85 or 100. I have freshmen now that I promise "significant playing time" that I can't get on the field, not even for special teams! At least I used to have my 3rd or 4th string QB hold for field goals and xtra points! At least add more sub options like HB3 and HB4 from the playcall screen. But before I see a roster increase, I want a playbook increase. All teams don't have the same defensive playbook.
