My issues with '06 were:

- The deep ball was just too easy.

- I also remember the sim engine for QBs being totally out of control with QB ratings of 220.

- Unstoppable impact RBs.

With that said, I did play '06 a whole heck of a lot.

I loved '06 as well at the time. But I can't go back.

'06 still had the old three button kick system, did not have jump the snap or momentum, and had r-stick DL moves (I really liked this). '07 was worse in all of those areas despite improving other things. NCAA 06 certainly had flaws and required slider tweaks but I think this was my favourite football game I owned on the PS2 (2K4 a close second).

How'd that #3 ranking work out for ya?

Oh yeah, Im not going to say that it was the perfect game or anything..I was just comparing the whole fun factor of the game, and the overall better play of the dang CPU.

Chad Henne wasnt running the dang spread option on me.

He wasnt brain cramping in the pocket hwen a screen was covered or his pre-programmed Robo-QB read was jumped.

I actually felt like he was reading the coverage.

I liked seeing my 3-4 rush LBs come flying off the edge, and also being able to manually disrupt the LOS with the Nose Tackle.

The game was just fun. Hopefully that's coming back.

I feel like these next gen football games have become so sterile. The look more lifelike, but lack personality.

I agree. Fun factor IS the most important thing. As much as I want realism, I can accept some arcade like things if the game is fun.

People always felt Madden was more realistic or had more strategy options than NCAA on last gen. But NCAA was a blast to play.

06 was probably my favorite football game ever, and I actually have been considering picking it up for the PS2 just to mess around with again.

I picked up NCAA 09 recently for the PS2 and it plays pretty similar to 06 with a few changes (kick meter, jump snap). Sure, it's not perfect but it definitely is a better experience than 09 on the 360/PS3.
