Run commit in all isn't a terrible thing. It's implementation was absolutely idiotic though.
So, first thing's first:
When pile ups are put into the game, this won't be such a big deal, however if you don't do run commit on the goal line in short yardage, it was almost a guaranteed TD with a FB Dive. Shoot, it was still successful most of the time.
The biggest problem with run commit is that the AI knows if it's a run or a pass. Run commit, and all the players would start to blitz, but if the AI knew it was a pass play, all the DBs get back into position. Receivers have 3 steps on them off the line, but somehow the magic of Run commit gets those DBs right back with your receivers.
Not to mention Play action. Play action should absolutely KILL run commit, but nope. The computer AI knows you're not actually running. If those safeties and corners actually bit quite a bit, which they should if you are committing to the run, the play action should be wide open 50% of the time.
