starting out slow?

it seems like very often i'll start out very slow and be down like 14 points and then like the second quarter i'll let loose and just kill them the rest of the game. does this seem to happen to anybody?

Re: starting out slow?

lol great thread.

and yes, it happens to me sometimes. i typically try to be conservative to begin games. see how my defense plays, if i can run the ball, how much time i've got to pass, etc.

I sometimes get good games throughout the first half and then its like the cpu gives up.

Same. My game vs Miami as Pitt, it was an even battle through the first two quarters, then Miami suddenly became turnover prone and kept coughing it up. I ended up winning 48-21 or so, when the game was 21-21 at half.

Re: starting out slow?

Seems to me like games where you jump out to a big lead the AI tries to "correct" the momentum...So I start of with a steady run/quick slant attack and as long as it's working and my D holds up I stick with it. If I fall behind I open it up more but never to far ahead.

Always thinking clock managment.

I usually start slow, but so does the other team. I don't have the problem you guys have with killing the CPU, maybe you need to adjust sliders.

Re: starting out slow?

It depends... I usually start out slow on offense. It seems like very often my QB will start off 2-9 or something, but will end up going 10-12 at some point later in the game to get back to respectable numbers. Also my running game is usually very weak early in the games, but might be dominant in the 2nd half.

My defense, on the other hand, is usually opposite. Sure, I've had games where I allow a ton of 1st quarter points and then start playing pretty good, but most of the time it seems like I shut down my opponent for the 1st half, and then have trouble even slowing them down in the 2nd half.
