I can not stop tosses, stretches, and to a lesses extent counters for my life. Is it best to blitz or play man or zone? what formations? Im not looking to blow up the play in the backfield every time but these plays almost always go for 10 yards against me.

Zone is generally the best to stop running plays, but even in a zone I find I have to control my MLB (I guess it could also work if you have a strong SS) and pursue the play myself to actually make a tackle. But if you're in a basic zone you should at least be in a good position to make the tackle.

You are not the only 1 having this problem this year. Its almost impossible to stop outside runs in '11. Ive been really working on it, and i find spreading out your lineman and LBs works. Also try using DE contain if your running a 4-3 defense. The best thing i would suggest you do is find a play in your defense that seems to work the best against the run. I only have success stopping the run with 1 play in my whole playbook.

I've never seen the cpu run outside.
Are you talking about online?

Yeah this is against human opponents i should have stated.
Online matches, online dynasty, etc.
