How do I edit players so that I can use the same number twice?

You can't only default rosters do that... I know it sucks.

But there's a couple of reasons i can think of:

With the formation subs you could have 2 players with the same number. In real life this is a penalty and it's probably for the realism of the game.
They may have a problem controlling the number of times you can reuse a number so they limit to once.
Does it sound fun to have two #22's at Alabama, two #15's at Arkansas etc.

And if anything I'd rather have the possibility to retire numbers than duplicate them.

You can't.

The number can be duplicate if they came on the game like that. But we can't use the same numbers.

You can't. Like what others said and also you have a roster limit so no need to duplicate numbers for future recruits.
