Getting a Commit with out offering a Scholarship

I had a recruit that i was 2nd for, -1 point behind TCU, where he comitted. But TCU never offered him. I checked after the offseason recruiting where you can see how you did, and he comitted to TCU WITHOUT an offer.

I was second, followed by Texas. Both of us had offered, and were stuck at -1 behind TCU for the longest time.

I recruited this guy from the beginning, and through the offseason (60 min per week).

I have heard this happen to others where the comp gets a commit without offering.

Has anyone gotten a comitt without offering? Or gotten a walk-on that was a former recruit that you were chasing?

Yeah, I've never seen it either. That's definitely wacky though

This happens in real life. The only real problem in the game is that players will commit to CPU controlled teams without offer, but not Player controlled teams.

To be fair has there ever been an situation like this that anyones experienced before? I mean these recruits who commit to the school without an offer undoubtedly still get 50-60 minutes a week, and who in their right mind would give that to their recruit who has them at 1 without offering a scholarship?

The only reason to do it would be just to see if it happens.

That's a good point.

Yeah I went after a 3 star QB for a whole season and he decided to go to Hawaii instead of me without a scholarship. Obviously walk-ons happen, but going to Hawaii isn't really a cheap prospect without a scholarship...
