Ineligible Man Downfield

IMO, Ineligible man downfield should be added to the game. I guess the main reason I feel this way is because I commonly see people throw the ball downfield on screen passes. That would be a penalty about every time in real life since the lineman are past the line of scrimmage. I was playing someone who will call a screen pass, and when I go to cover the screen, he will throw it to a receiver on a slant route and he was ALWAYS wide open. I was able to beat him but that's not the point. My problem with this is that when the offensive lineman crosses the line of scrimmage, the QB cannot pass the ball pass the line of scrimmage. The ball has to be passed behind the line of scrimmage or else it's a penalty. That's why when QB's throw the ball away on screen passes, they usually throw it at the receiver's feet (That should be added also btw). I know people don't think about that when they are running screens on this game, but I feel it should be a penalty. Just my .02.

Re: Ineligible Man Downfield

That would be nice, but being that they don't ever call intentional grounding in this game either, I doubt they would ever call that even if they did have rule in the game. Matter of fact I remember Madden had that rule in the game in the past and it was NEVER called and people online would throw to the WR on HB screens all the time.

It is the same thing with passing the ball after you crossed the line of scrimmage. I have seen that happen dozens of times too.

Re: Ineligible Man Downfield

intentional grounding is called when you use the "throw away" button while in the pocket. I've accidentally hit it a few times and got penalized.

as for Ineligible man downfield, that would be nice to have in the game, as well as other penalties that are not in the game.

If you use the throw away button, like Solidice said, then you can get an intentional grounding called on you. I'm pretty sure the easiest solution to the problem the OP has, is to just take away the buttons to the other receivers. That way he's stuck with either throwing it to his half back or with throwing the ball away. I've never seen the passing the ball after the line of scrimmage thing either.

All penalties should be in the game.

Things I've never once seen called in the history of the game:
Illegal formation
Illegal man downfield
Illegal forward pass
Delay of game on the CPU
Intentional grounding on the CPU
Chop blocks-they call clipping, but like holding, that penalty is basically broken on the game.
Block in the back
Defensive holding
Horse Collar Tackles
Illegal touching seems to have gone away. Someone in my dynasty loves to pass to people who are out of bounds, and they just ran back in and catch it, and they don't call it.

I've seen offensive pass interference called exactly one time in 10 years of playing this game, and defensive pass interference maybe a dozen times ever even though the CPU can basically tackle your WR.

One detail for the OP, the linemen can go up to 5 yards beyond the LOS before it's a penalty.

I get if the NCAA doesn't want people getting personal fouls for excessive celebration or late hits, but every other penalty should be in.

I'm pretty sure that on pass plays there is a one yard buffer, but that is as far as you can go before a penalty is called.

They may add the penalty, but then you'd never see it regardless of sliders. I'd rather they make all the current penalties occur with normal frequency before they add another feature.

I can't stand this. I was playing the CPU and they threw a 70 yard TD on a play like this. I couldn't believe it. I was so ticked.

The lack of flagging late hits out of bounds drive me crazy as well. Other than those things I mentioned, penalties are better this year if you use adjusted sliders.
