Re: NCAA 12 PS3 pics of field

So, as you guys have said, the PS3 version appears to look improved in the retail version based on the video I saw. Hard to tell from just vids if it looks like the 360 version, but it looks a LOT less jaggy to my in the video than in the demo. Good stuff

Hey. Thanks for taking the time to post a response. I see that you're the
NCAA Art Director. I have been playing Madden since the mid 90's and NCAA
since 2001.

Maybe you have answered it, but are you guys going to do anything to
change the grass before the game is released?

Everything looks AMAZING up close, and I understand that it's not possible
to make everything look amazing from a distance, as this would take up too
much space, (according to a user here).

My main concern, as stupid as it may be, is the grass color. It just doesn't
look like grass.

The screen below was taken from NCAA Football '01... and I think the color is
definitely more accurate... maybe a little dark.

Still, my main concern here is the huge difference in graphics during certain
replays and cut scenes, opposed to the actual game play.

In Fable 3 for example, the cut scenes look AMAZING, and better than the
actual gameplay. But still, the gameplay graphics look pretty damn good.

Want to see a beautiful game all around??? cut scenes, gameplay, and all?

Backbreaker got the grass right...

I guess I just don't get what happened... I am not trying to be rude at all
here. The graphical improvements your team made during the cut scenes are
absolutely beautiful. I just wish the game could be close to this beautiful
during the actual gameplay.

You call Backbreaker grass? That is green carpet from a miniature golf course

I can't help remembering the grass and textures in APF 2K8. From the game cam the textures and grass had a very saturated look, but in replays you could see all the great details. I think the 3D grass is actually making the field look saturated from a distance because its not close enough to fully render. I personally like the 3D grass for replays and pics, but if you don't like the 3D grass then you are stuck with very saturated graphics. I can live with it.

I do not think one has to do with the other. All 3D grass promotion is weak and stale because it is just for replays. It has nothing to do with the game play on the field.

I see it as a sales gimmick, but you can't deny the fact that they at least tried something to spice up the games graphics. And I for one believe that the graphics on the field have to do with the grass meshing together and not rendering separately from a distance. It's a game of give and take.
