At large?? quick question

Going through the custom conferences and automatic bowl bids video, I don't really understand the whole "at large" thing. Can someone explain this to me? Just for example, what would happen if I set them all to at large?

At large means it goes by the polls and not conferences. So if you have them all on at large theoretically you could have someone from the Big East ,for example, not make a BCS bowl game.

Do you really care where I sent this from?

basically this, although I believe the "no more than 2 teams per conference" rule still applies when it comes to BCS games.

Re: At large?? quick question

so basically it would be #1 vs #2 for the champ, #3 and #4 for the rose bowl, etc? but which bowls are more... valuable, i guess? like which bowl would host the #5 and #6 teams? i guess which bowls are more "important" than others? sorry if im making this more complicated than it sounds, i guess I'm trying to say who would be in the orange bowl if I had everything set to at large, who would play in the sugar bowl, etc?

thanks again for the help

The way they have them set up isn't based on importance, it's based on conference. For instance, the Rose bowl, if it's not the championship bowl, theoretically it should be the #1 Big Ten team vs. #1 Pac-10 team, (of course not including the 2 teams playing for the National Championship if either of them are from these conferences.) Orange bowl is usually #1 ACC team vs. #1 Big East team, and so on. Hope that makes sense.

My guess it would rotate. Not sure how they do it for all at larges.

He asked if they were all on at large. In that case conferences wouldn't matter.

I understand the automatic bids in real life, I'm just wondering how they are going to decide which teams will play which bowls if I set everything to at large. I'm just going to assume it's random?
