So after doing extensive testing I can say for 100% certainty progression in game has a lot to do with coach prestige. Turning off the carousel allows you the chance to make progression what you want it to.

Want bad progression and make it difficult to get an A ranked school? Make every coach no higher than a C or D.

Want talent to run wild? Make everyone at least a B.

And so on. One neat little nugget with this is if you decide you want a school to start declining or go on the rise is adjust their coach prestige and watch the results.

I know that I'll be changing my prestige system so that only the best of the best are A, one coach or two is A+, and the rest are in the B's and C's.

Tragedy averted as far am I'm concerned. Carousel will be staying off for me this year, as progression is more important than watching nameless coaches go back and forth year to year; inviting disaster to the rosters.

Not entirely sure on that one. According to a post I saw awhile ago, if there are no coaching contracts (at least in an online dynasty), it is team prestige that is used. Now maybe it is different offline, but I don't see why it would be. Have you actually tested to see if you jack all the coach prestiges up, if it has a strong effect? Or you could make all the MAC coaches an A+ and it wouldn't matter because most of the schools are 1* and 2*'s. You said you did testing, but was that just with the carousel on?

I cant figure out how to edit a coach's prestige anyway. People say you just edit the coach from your dynasty menu, but I dont see an option for prestige.

Pretty sure you have to do it before you ever start a dynasty in the Team Management menu. Once you've started, you can't touch the other coaches.

I can confirm coaching prestige, with carousel off, has no impact on anything. 90% sure of this.
