can you advance backwards in an online dynasty??

a buddy of mine was playing his game and he text me and said hes ready to advance...but he was still in his game screen about to exit...well i was on my laptop at the time so i went to dynasty website to advance it since it was quicker

well it hadnt saved it yet so it ended up simming his game, giving him a loss after he won and advanced to the next

so is there a way i can fix this??
