Re: 6'1 173 Pound OLB

Just landed the 21st ranked DE in my recruiting class. He's a 4* and ranked 253rd overall. His height and weight.......5'11" 221

The 221 pounds isn't that bad until you see he's also just 5'11".

Cool story. I really don't see it as cheating to edit anything to make the game more enjoyable. I doubt anyone is really talking about turning a freshman into a 99 overall player anyway. People just want the game of college football to be represented better.

The only time I really edit players is if I give them a position swap. Like a DE to OLB for the 3-4 will get a ratings boost in coverage to make him a bit more... capable. But no player is going to get a ton of attributes changed just to make them super man on the field.

6'4" 190 DE
6'1" 175 OLB
5'11" 260 DT
6'1" 255 OG
6'1" 215 TE
6'0" 217 DE

Thank goodness for the ability to edit players height and weight.
The #4 Weakside DE is 6'4" 210
The #25 OLB in the country is 6'1" 190
The #21 DT in the country is 6'6" 268
The #2 OG in the country is 6'4" 260
5 of the 13 top TE's are 225 lbs or less, 3 of whom are less than 220

Seems like EA is pretty spot on to me, my only issues come after the recruiting, I haven't observed proper weight progression (adding 20+ lbs very quickly and continuing from there) nor have I observed any disadvantages with regard to height for non position players. Through my own observations I am quite certain that weight matters for sim stats but not for played games.

The #25 OLB in the country is 6'1" 190 - Again, this time a 15 pound difference. I posted an OLB at 6'3" 175. I can live with 6'1" 190-200.

The #21 DT in the country is 6'6" 268 - That's ideal DT size for an incoming freshman. The DT I posted is 7 inches shorter and about 10 pounds lighter. Actually 6'6" 268 is great DE size. In some systems I think coaches prefer the shorter more "squat" DT's."

5 of the 13 top TE's are 225 lbs or less, 3 of whom are less than 220 - Are any of those TE's just 6'1" like the player I posted?

Look, I know there are top recruits at their respective positions every year that aren't of ideal size. I was just pointing out some players I recruited whose l noticed. I do tend to add 5-10 pounds to such recruits due to the way players progress in terms of putting on weight throughout their career on the game.

Re: 6'1 173 Pound OLB

I could have sworn height and weight at ZERO impact on their abilities. This is why they don't bother to program a system that makes sense. If it actually mattered, then a 230 lb fullback should be able to plow through a guy like that every time. Guess what? He doesn't. Edit it if it bothers you, but it has no impact what-so-ever on a player. Receiver is my only guess where you might see a difference, and even then, I bet a 5' nothin corner could still defend passes on a 6'6 receiver with no hands.

Sean Spence was 186 coming out of HS and now one of the best linebackers in the country.
