Speed Score = (Weight * 200)/(40 Time^4)

A speed score of 100 is average.

A speed score of 110 and above are the more elite athletes.

This is only part of the equation in finding players and is a general guideline.

There will always be outliers, aka Darren Sproles.

Happy Hunting!!

I like how for ur DE u have one semi fast one and one I assume u use as power. I also like to do that. Try to get one of every trade. Like with my middle linebacker I like one who is good at coverage, my rolb to be a good blitzer, and my lolb to be all around.

Speed score was invented by Football Outsiders.

This would be excellent if size really mattered in the game. It may matter a little more since they removed the ability for 5'11" lbs to jump like Michael Jordan to tip and intercept passes. This is a very interesting formula though and I use this as a guide when recruiting!

Re: Recruiting for a pro style offense/defense

I will be running the 4-3 Under so I will run something using guys that are:
WDE: Pass Rusher
3 Tech DT: Balanced
NT: Run Stuffer
5 Tech DE: Run Stuffer
Will LB: Coverage
Mike LB: Balanced
Sam LB: Blitzer

This is because the formation is usually as such

So the 5 Tech matches up with TEs or tackles to the run side so he needs to be stronger, and the Will and Mike are more coverage oriented, while the Sam is freed up by the 5 tech to rush the passer if called. This is also why I use a NT in the middle because it is similar to the 3-4 in that he has two guys close to the line one either side of him and needs to anchor it.

Hopefully stuff like this will matter and have an outcome on the game, otherwise that throws position plans out the window.

As for my offense, I haven't decided yet on what I would like for each position, but I am going to try and go with good TEs, an accurate QB, and some tall WRs for a good possesion offense. AKA copying what Michigan plans on being running soon.

Also this list is pretty cool of what to look for, and reading it, it does matchup with what I am aiming for.

Re: Recruiting for a pro style offense/defense

guess i gotta be the 1st noob to ask...

what is speed score and what does it mean?

how does it translate to the game in a way that different from the 40 times?

what about speed score is special to the pro offense.

basically could somebody break down why this is important info to have as it relates to the game.

i consider myself and elite recruiter (as far as determining what skillsets are truly important to each position and finding players who progress well based on their current ratings) and ive never heard of this, is there some etheral level of recruiting that even i down know about?
