Depth Chart Limitations

Looking at Notre Dames depth chart got me thinking about how limited and how simplistic EA's version of these are. For example, Notre Dame has 3 different WR positions, including one (slot) which is cross trained with the hybrid running backs. Instead we get one position. Corners and safeties are divided up into the field, and the boundary, and MLB and defensive ends are split with strong and weak. Also the OLB in a 34 are seperated by rush and drop with the rush often being the 4th lineman. Instead what we get are left and right defensive ends and OLB, a generic middle posistion as well as a generic corner position, with safeties getting the strong and free designation, but never flipping as a result of the ball position relative to the field. It just makes no sense why EA cant update their depth chart codes to show multiple positions for some of these. 5'9 Robby Toma wont play the outside W or X positions, yet when i throw in my back-ups thats where he is becuase he is the #3 WR.

Had to get this rant out of the way, just a bit pissed with the lack of reality when it comes to setting up a depth chart.

I agree with this rant. If only EA wasn't lazy.

Re: Depth Chart Limitations

Agreeing with the OP here , it should be in the game . Or at least an option to turn on more detailed dept charts.
