OK thought it was something along the lines of not completely starting over.

Re: New Engine for Next Gen?

This topic is exactly what needs to be addressed. The engine used now is so outdated its embarrassing. Just look how the players move and react...its so bad. There is no reason why they havent had a team working on a new engine for a year or so just like every other company. Just look at the new fox engine for the Konami, or frostbite for battlefield. Say what you want about Backbreaker..we all know the game wasn't that great but the engine was in the right direction. It had great physics and felt real good. Everything else sucked but the engine was real good. Imagine a developer like sony using that engine to build a football game...dam. Back to the point.. If EA thinks they can keep band aiding these problems just like they are doing this year, dont let them fool you, then its going to be embarrassing for them and a lost for us who enjoy and want a real football game that feels like it should now in 2013. I mean hell we still dont have that game they showed us in the infamous "2006 madden next gen trailer"

Re: New Engine for Next Gen?

I may be in minority here but I think the IE was a step in the right direction, even though it can be awkward at times. After playing Madden I couldn't stand to play NCAA w/out any physics.

I think they have only scratched the surface of the IE. Imagine how great the engine could be with horsepower of the PS4, they could add physics to ol/dl interactions and allow weight, momentum, strength to actually play role. The processing power of the next-gen should allow for these complex calculations to be more realistic.

The suspense is killing me. I know we won't see NCAA next gen until next year, but Madden is probably launching with the next gen systems this year. I just want to know what they've got and if I should care.

Yes. I am so looking forward to a 17 minute trailer of real game play on the new consoles for an EA football game, lol. On the other hand if they come out with another CGI or whatever it's called like back in 2005, hiding the actual game play and giving us those close up non-game play views, I will know it's just more of the same. A few GCs confirmed nobody at Tiburon will discuss the new consoles so I take that no news as good news, so hopefully they are protecting something.

It's funny but by having such questionable EA football games this entire console gen, EA has potentially created a large demand for EA football games on new consoles, just to play something, anything, different, lol.

It all comes down to that first real gameplay video for the PS4/XBOX 720. It will be immediately noticeable if we have a new engine, or just the same terrible engine of this gen.

This is going to sound pathetic to say, but I am going to be heart broken if I see the same old from this generation. That is when I will officially know that Madden will not be able to make a football game I can enjoy anymore. (Been a huge madden fan since 89') Since there is no other alternative, I may have to just give up on football gaming.

Please EA, step up and Wow us with these upcoming systems.

I don't think they can afford to come out with another CGI trailer. People think EA/Tiburon gets bashed now, ssshhhhhhh, you'll really see a bashing, lol. Talk about burning the witch at the stake. The thing about it is the culture has to change at Tiburon. Everything has to be taken more seriously. Gameplay, presentation, penalties, audio, authenticity, EVERYTHING. To me it seems like everything is "ehh we'll get to it when we get to it". It CANNOT be like that next gen for these major areas.
