Re: #1 QB

They were clearly 2 sport athletes who chose careers as pitchers instead

Re: #1 QB

I don't understand. You 'left 5 scholarships open' ? Did you offer them scholarships or not? If you didn't then that might be the problem.

Re: #1 QB

Google these guys:

Willie Williams, he was the number 1 linebacker availanle coming out his sr. year. Then got "robby", some drug stuff. etc. etc. etc.

Jerrel Powe, was a 5 star DT stud, couldn't read in his high school sr. year. had to go Juco.

There are studs all the time that don't make it into college all the time.

Agreed. But here is the difference; these schools knew there would potentially be an academic issue with these players. They were able to plan accordingly and have a backup or other plan. To land one of these top guys would just be icing on the cake. We have no idea they are treading thin ice and then all of a sudden they don't sign. The least they could do if that is what is really going on is to let us know they are an academic issue early on and allow us to decide to take that gamble or not. But honestly I don't think that's what it is. I think there is something wrong but it has always been like this on the game.
